The Laboratory of Dr. Grey - Chapter One

In the years to come, there may be several versions of how this tale unfolds. But this I assure you is the correct one, as unbelievable as it may seem. After the Great War in 2184 A.D. there was very little of civilized life in what used to be called The United States of America. There was great gathering of people who wanted to get their old lives back, and maintain what the rest of the world had lost: Civilization. So that is when the idea formed to create a world and government system of their own, much like the world that was oft told of in legend. This system included Sectors that would provide a few essential assets to be distributed to the other Sectors, with a main Sector in the middle to organize and ship the goods. So the idea for Vallent was born. They chose six Sectors in all: Lamperi, which means glittering: Aspectu, which means favored: Effextrix, which means producers: Agris, which means farms: Parias, which means outcast: and last of all Despertaio, which means the desperate. Unfortunately, approximately fifty or sixty years after the Sectors were formed, Sector Parias revolted and the Capital was forced to annihilate them and cut them off from the system.

But I am getting way too ahead of myself. Anyway, before they settled, they formed a committee and the committee searched through all the lands to find the most ideal location for their system. They quickly found that the only place, which wasn’t over run by ruffians of maimed, violent people, was in the state that was formerly known as Washington. So they trekked to Washington and began to set up their system. This is when the trouble began. They soon had all the boundaries set up for the different Sectors and the railroad tracks almost in place. They set up the Capital in the center of Sector Lamperi and assigned Senators to rule over each Sector.

Before they got to this healthy stage, the committee soon found that now was the time that there were certain threats to their system. Now this caused a great stir, because 36 years previous it had been prophesied that one, who was two, would bring justice, honor and chivalry back to a struggling system. Moreover that this one would have everything necessary already in them. That is what had been prophesied when the founders of the system first came up with their idea. The time was right that they had to find the one who was going to foil their system. The committee had kept it quiet from the citizens and tracked the when this threat was to turn seventeen.

The committee had figured out that the threat would be incredibly different from any other person of their age. So they came up with a test to find the one that was two. In that test they would give a certain drug to the subject and give an introductory to the setting and give them a character. Then the subject is put through an event which is pre-created, they just fill in small details like what other persons look like, wall colors, basic furniture styles ect. And, of course, the subject’s circumstances change upon their reactions. Every test is the same except slightly modified per subject, and the names are changed to fit the subject. Now the trick was that they add the subject’s true self in the setting as well as other characters. The test was designed for one person to go through a period of time in the setting. Depending on the subject, the time they spend in the setting can differ. But it’s always an hour in real time.

With the test ready, the committee mandated for every seventeen year old to take the test. They were not told what the test was for, just they had to do it, and that it was normal. Everyday they tested eight seventeen year olds, and so far all the results had been the same.

And so I present you with the Laboratory of Dr. Grey, A Tale Untold.
